Some guidelines to live by...

FOUR. When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
FIVE. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look at the person in the eye.
SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

Coco Chanel Remembered
In celebration of the 125th birthday of fashion legend Miss Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel (1883-1971), Karl Lagerfeld has created a limited edition coin for Le Monnaie de Paris (the French Mint).
Although the coins bear the stamp of Five Euros, — the four gold or silver versions range in price from 45 Euros to 5,900 Euros and will go on sale at the French Mint on Dec. 1,2008.
However Coco Chanel is the most famous fashion designer, and her work changed women's fashion.
During World War I, women took over men's jobs, and the traditional pompous clothes disappeared. After the war, the development of fashion was influenced by the new attitude of women. Chanel lost her parents when she was young, and she did not have any money. She escaped from poor circumstances, and created revolutionary women's clothes. She was an inspirational person. She broke the traditional forms of women's clothes, and contributed to a change in women's sense through her clothes. Chanel was a woman of ambition and determination. She introduced simple, elegant, relaxed, and functional clothes that express the aspirations of women in the Twentieth Century.
She said, "Fashion is always of the time in which you live. It is not something standing alone."

India has world's largest hungry population..

GHI-2008 measured hunger on three fronts - proportion of people undernourished or calorie deficient; child malnutrition (underweight children under 5 years of age) and child mortality rates (malnutrition or disease deaths of children under 5 years).
Hunger is a major threat in 33 countries, including India, owing to rising food prices. The fact that food importers outnumbered exporters implied many more countries were likely to suffer from higher prices.
Despite years of robust economic growth, India scored worse than nearly 25 sub-Saharan countries like Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Sudan, and all of South Asia, except Bangladesh, which ranked 70th. This was in spite of the fact that the per capita income in the African countries was much lower than India's.
India's slightly better performance over Bangladesh was because of higher agricultural productivity. But it fared worse than Bangladesh in child mortality.
Among the better-fed countries, Mauritius ranked 1st, followed by Jamaica, Moldova, Cuba and Peru. China ranked 15th, Thailand 23rd, Sri Lanka 39th, Nepal 57th and Pakistan 61st.
Is there a bailout plan for this!!!

This is not the end

This is not the end.
It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning..
No one can go back and change a bad beginning ...But one can start now and create a successful ending. Mistakes are painful when they happen. But year's later collection of mistakes is called experience and leads to success.
Remember : "Changing the face" can change nothing, but "Facing the change" can change everything.

Million Dollar Note

Zimbabwe, grappling with a record 2.2 million percent inflation....
The southern African nation, has been ravaged by hyperinflation which shot up from 165,000 percent in February to 2.2 million in June.
In January, a 10-million-dollar note was issued, then a 50-million-dollar note in April.
In May, notes for 100 million and 250 million dollars were issued, swiftly followed by those for five billion, 25 billion and 50 billion.

Step Back

But as the years go by,our perspective of life also changes. Many of us are so concerned about material gains and wealth that we do not realise the most important thing in our lives - Spiritual Well-being.
It's good to take a step back once in a while, breathe deeply and search for our lost souls.
Past, Present & Future..

One must remember that our past is not everything. Our past has helped to shape us, but now we have a choice.
You can choose to let your past rule your life, or choose to take control of the future......

I miss you..
How many friends have you lost along The way,
How many lovers gone from your sight,
How many times have you broken down in fear,
How many times have you cried yourself to sleep at night.
This world that we live in is far from perfect,
So many things that make it wrong,
Sometimes there's light that brightens up Your day,
But others its been dark all along.
How many times have you left your House crying,
Knowing things will never be the same,
How many times have you had to hide Behind a smile,
Live with a different name.
They say that life's what you make it,
But how can we control death,
One minute we are here living life,
The next out of breathes.
The journey of life confuses me,
Sometimes i just sit and wonder why,
Why do the people we are closest to,
Always have to die???

Show me the way.

The early Hindu astrologers used a magnet—an iron fish compass that floated in a vessel of oil and pointed to the North. The Sanskrit word for the mariner's compass is Maccha Yantra, or fish machine.
It provides direction, and, metaphorically, illumination and enlightenment.

Disgrace & Downfall..

Downfalls are always unnecessary but always inevitable. Its the law of nature.Greeks called it peripeti or the reversal of fortune. Its when man believes he's God and cant be touched for whatever he does, the crime is called Hubris by the greeks. Hubris essentially means pride that leads to what , again the greeks call, Hamartia - which means error of judgement leading to peripeti..

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die!
Birth and death are the constants of life.. If you have taken birth, you have to die. They are the only fixed co-ordinates in a person's life rest is all variables. Variables that are changing every moment. Anthing you are doing now is defining your tomorrow.
Life is a complete circle. One reaps the fruits or pays for his activities in this life. So do good and be good.
You live only once. Try to make the most of it.

What is Impossible !
Impossible is just a small word that is thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given to explore and not use the power they have, to change it! Impossible is not a fact. It is an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It is a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Fact of Life ..

Whether an enemy kills you from the front or a friend from the back, cost of the funeral will be the same.... Kingshuk
Reality Check !
A couple went golfing one day at a very exclusive course lined with million dollar homes. On the third tee, the husband cautioned, “Honey, be careful when you drive. If we break one of those windows, it’ll cost us a fortune to repair.”Of course, she immediately shanked her drive right through the window of the biggest house on the course. The husband cringed, “I warned you to watch out! Now we’ll have to go up there and apologize and see how much that lousy drive is going to cost us.”They walked up, knocked on the door, and a warm voice said, “Come on in.” When they opened the door they saw glass all over the place and a broken antique bottle lying on its side near the broken window. A man reclining on the couch asked, “Are you the people that broke the window?”“Uh…yeah, we’re very sorry about that,” the husband replied.“Oh, no apology is necessary. Actually I want to thank you. You see, I’m a genie, and I’ve been trapped in that bottle for a thousand years. Now that you’ve released me, I’m allowed to grant three wishes. I’ll give you each one wish, and I’ll keep the last one for myself.”“Wow, that’s great!” the husband said. He pondered a moment and blurted out, “I’d like a million dollars a year for the rest of my life.”“No problem,” said the genie, “You’ve got it. I have already put a million dollars in your bank account. It’s the least I can do.”“And now you, young lady, what do you want?” the genie asked.“I’d like to own a gorgeous home complete with servants in every country in the world,” she said.“Consider it done. The deeds are now in your name,” the genie said.“And now,” the couple both asked in unison, “what’s your wish, genie?”“Well, since I’ve been trapped in that bottle and haven’t been with a woman in a thousand years, my wish is to have sex with your wife.”The husband looked at his wife and said, “Gee, honey, you know we both now have a fortune, and all those houses. What do you think?”She mulled it over for a few moments and said, “You know, you’re right. Considering all that, I guess I wouldn’t mind.”The genie and the woman went upstairs where he ravished her for the rest of the afternoon. Both satisfied each other repeatedly, and afterwards, the genie rolled over and looked at the wife and asked, “How old are you and your husband?”“Why, we’re both thirty-five,” she responded breathlessly.“No shit! Thirty-five years old and both of you still believe in genies
